COUNTYWIDE : County Budget Talks to Resume Friday
- Share via
The county’s 1990-91 budget hearings, cut short Monday because of uncertainty over state spending plans, will resume Friday.
Board of Supervisors Chairwoman Madge L. Schaefer announced the continuance during Tuesday’s board meeting. Originally, the hearings on the county’s general fund budget of $380 million were to resume Tuesday afternoon.
“We’re waiting for the governor to do his thing,” Schaefer said, referring to Gov. George Deukmejian’s final cuts in the $55-billion state budget.
She said making decisions on the county budget would be futile until details of Deukmejian’s reductions are known.
Supervisors must shave up to $8 million from the budget, she said.
The county hearings are scheduled to resume at 10:30 a.m. Friday.
An additional hearing will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday if needed.
