WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — Authorities have increased patrols in Colonial Williamsburg and are searching for two teen-agers suspected of shooting an Indiana couple who were robbed while touring the historic area.
It was the fifth robbery at Colonial Williamsburg since May and has caused police to beef up security, said Maj. Mike Yost, who is heading the Williamsburg police investigation.
“This whole series of robberies is very uncharacteristic for the area,” Yost said. “We’re very anxious to bring them to a halt.” The incident was “like nothing we’ve ever had down there,” he said.
The victims, who both suffered minor wounds to the face, were identified as David Edds, 39, and his wife Anne, 32, of Swayzee, Ind. He was released after treatment but she was hospitalized with a bullet wound to her cheek. Her condition was listed as satisfactory.
