A 22-year-old Laguna Hills man was killed Monday morning when he lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into a tree in a center divider, California Highway Patrol officials said.
Guadalupe Bravo Noya was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.
The accident occurred about 4 a.m. when Noya, who was southbound on Paseo de Valencia near Laguna Hills Drive, lost control of his 1983 Toyota, CHP spokesman Ken Daily said.
Noya was traveling about 45 m.p.h. when his truck hit the tree, Daily said.
Investigators believe that Noya, who was not wearing a seat belt, died instantly, Daily said. No one else was hurt in the accident.
CHP investigators on Monday were trying to determine the cause of the accident.
