USAir Announces More Layoffs: The nation’s seventh-largest airline, which last week announced the layoff of 200 pilots, said it was cutting another 1,500 workers, or 2.7% of its work force, as it pares back expansion plans. The Arlington, Va.-based airline said most of the 1,500 employees have been hired recently as part of an expansion program that is being rolled back.
