P.M. BRIEFING : Bank Sorry for Computer Glitch

ATLANTA — Citizens & Southern Bank apologized today to more than 10,000 puzzled mortgage customers in three states who received default notices in the mail because of a computer glitch in the bank’s Atlanta headquarters.
“We apologize to anybody for whom we’ve caused any problem or concern, and we feel badly about it,” spokesman Scott Scredon said. “I hope we haven’t caused too much of a problem.”
Scredon said the computer processing error occurred Friday but was not caught until Saturday.
“We got hold of the problem and mailed out notices to all customers by Tuesday morning,” he said.
None of the customers who received the notices in Georgia, Florida and South Carolina actually had defaulted on their mortgage payments.
