Children who will be dressing to impress this school year will be happy to learn that a new shop opening in South Coast Plaza will carry cashmere sweat shirts in children’s sizes, in 10 different colors. The shop, TSE Cashmere, will carry other unusual items--cashmere jogging suits and men’s trousers--as well as clothing more commonly made from the Kashmir and Tibetan goat’s soft wool: sweaters, stoles, jackets and women’s knit suits.
The Santa Ana-based importer will make its Southern California debut with the shop, which is scheduled to open next month. TSE Cashmere has sold private-label, 100% cashmere clothing to retailers nationwide since 1979, and opened its first two retail outlets in the Bay Area last year. The company operates a dyeing, spinning eand knitting factory in the Tian Shan mountain range in China’s Xinjiang province, where the goats are found in large numbers.
Augistine Tse, company president, said the South Coast Plaza store will be a prototype for future expansion throughout the country. The 600-square-foot boutique will be located on the mall’s second level in the Nordstrom wing.
