UCLA Forecasters Expect Recession: The nation’s economy is moving toward a full-blown recession that will last for the next six months, according to the UCLA Business Forecasting Project. The forecasters said they expected real gross national product to decline for two quarters, beginning in the fourth quarter, with drops of 2.4% and 3.2%, respectively, before recovering again. Such a decline would be the first since 1982. The forecast predicted an overall GNP growth of 0.9% for this year.
