CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : Cory Sues Over House Purchase Deal

Former state Controller Ken Cory sued Sacramento County Supervisors for reneging on their offer to buy his riverfront home for $717,250. The suit asks the Superior Court to order the county to resume the purchase and pay unspecified punitive damages. Supervisors had planned to buy the homes of as many as 17 people who claimed low-flying planes from nearby Sacramento Metropolitan Airport had reduced their homes’ value. But the board stopped the deal after the cost of Cory’s home, $32,250 more than appraised value, sparked public uproar.
