San Diego State named one-time Aztec player Diana Falar women’s golf coach. Falar replaced John Klein, who resigned last spring to become a club professional. Falar had been employed by SDSU since 1985 as an athletic department secretary. She played golf for two seasons at SDSU and graduated in 1970. In 1971, she turned pro, qualifying for four U.S. Opens.
SOCCER
The U.S. International men settled for a 2-2 tie in double overtime after Fresno Pacific scored on a penalty kick with one minute left in regulation in the first round of the Sunbird Classic in Fresno. USIU (2-1-1) will play Western Washington today at 2 p.m.
The Stanford women (5-0) outshot USIU (2-1), 19-4, in a 5-0 victory at USIU.
VOLLEYBALL
The San Diego State women (8-3) defeated Texas Arlington, 15-12, 15-11, 15-6. Gracie Schutt had 18 kills.
