AFI Picks Lynch: David (“Twin Peaks”) Lynch will be the first recipient of the American Film Institute’s Franklin J. Schaffner Alumni Medal. The new medal, named after the lateaward-winning director who garnered many awards during a 40-year career, will be presented at AFI’s life-achievement tribute to Kirk Douglas on March 7. Lynch is an AFI alumnus, class of 1970.
