Media: Arlington, Va.-based Gannett Co. said second-quarter profit fell 10% to $95 million on revenue of $874.6 million, down 2% from the year-ago period. New York Times Co. said second-quarter earnings totaled $5.4 million, down 80%. Revenue fell 6% to $440.4 million. The latest results included a $20-million charge before taxes to cover a previously disclosed employee severance plan. Both companies cited the weak economy’s impact on advertising for their lower results.
