Asian Representation

It is Asians who should be saying “I could not dream that I would ever see the Supreme Court, not to mention be nominated” rather than Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas (Part A, July 2).
Potential nominees have thus far been limited by race. Hopefully, Republicans and Democrats will realize and acknowledge that the Asian population has almost doubled in the United States in the past 10 years and Asian votes will be important if they are to remain in office. Every color is represented in the Bush Cabinet except yellow. I can’t believe there isn’t a single qualified Asian who can even be mentioned as a possible nominee for the Supreme Court.
