San Diego police detectives seized 100 to 150 books and magazines from an East San Diego adult bookstore Thursday morning, authorities said.
Ray Diffendarfer, 57, the owner of Gemini Books at 5265 University Ave., was presented with a search warrant by vice detectives about 9:15 a.m., Sgt. Mark Foreman said.
The material is considered “patently offensive” according to state standards, Foreman said, and a sample was taken to a judge for review before the warrant was granted.
Diffendarfer has not been arrested, but police are preparing to take their case to the city attorney’s office and recommend that misdemeanor charges of distributing obscenity be filed against him, Foreman said.
