Burger King Opens in Budapest: The world’s largest Burger King restaurant opened in Budapest, Hungary, as the fast-food chain moved to break McDonald’s hold on the central European market. A second Burger King will open later this year in the Hungarian capital, and others are planned for next year, company officials said. Burger King is a subsidiary of British food, drinks and leisure group Grand Metropolitan PLC. The Budapest franchise is operated by a joint venture between a British-American investment group and Hungary’s state-owned Pannonia Hotels.
