DWP Adopts Water-Saving Plan for the Long Haul
- Share via
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power on Thursday adopted an aggressive standardized conservation plan designed to make lasting changes in the way Californians use water.
The DWP Board of Directors approved the Urban Water Conservation Management Plan by unanimous vote. The 16-point plan was developed after four years of study and negotiations by members of the State Water Conservation Coalition, which included environmentalists, water agencies and elected officials.
The DWP already has implemented 14 points in the plan, including offering home audits, rebates for installing low-flush toilets and a school education program.
The Orange County Water Authority adopted the same program on Wednesday.
