Nygord Helps U.S. Win Pan-Am Gold

Dan Nygord of La Crescenta won the 11th Pan American Games gold medal of his career Thursday, helping the United States to the title in the team standard pistol competition in Havana.
The three-man U. S. team finished with 1,688 points. Argentina took the silver with 1,669 and host Cuba the bronze at 1,685.
Nygord also won a bronze in the individual competition, with 563 points. Ed Suarez and Guillermo Reyes of Cuba tied for first with 565, but Suarez took the gold on a tiebreaker.
