South Gate : Liquor Store Moratorium Extended for 6 Months

The South Gate City Council has voted unanimously to extend a moratorium it adopted in July on new liquor stores and convenience stores that sell alcoholic beverages.
No conditional-use permits will be issued for such businesses during the next six months while the city conducts a study on how to permanently contain the number of liquor outlets allowed in the community.
Officials are worried that South Gate has an excessive number of bars and retail liquor businesses that are contributing to crime and other problems.
