Crenshaw : Meeting to Discuss Crime
A special meeting of the Baldwin Hills Estates Homeowners Assn., called in response to the recent murder of a resident outside his home, has been scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at Crenshaw United Methodist Church, 3740 Don Felipe Drive. Capt. Garrett Zimmon of the Los Angeles Police Department will speak.
Even before the Aug. 6 murder of James Kendricks, a rash of burglaries and robberies in the hillside community had prompted the neighborhood association to consider a number of security measures, such as erecting security gates at entrances to the neighborhood and establishing neighborhood patrols.
According to police, Kendricks, 53, a consultant active in community affairs, was shot to death by a robber as he and his 18-year-old daughter were about to enter their home on Don Milagro Drive.
