Hinkle, Ben Garner Roll to Big Leads

Paul Hinkle of Costa Mesa shot a one-under-par 70 to take a five-shot lead after the second round of the Samuel Levestson Memorial golf tournament Wednesday in New Seabury, Mass.
Ben Garner of El Toro has an eight-shot lead in the boys’ 13-14 division after shooting the day’s best score, a 69, for a total of 142. Danny Duffy of Washington Crossing, Pa., the first-day leader, shot a 79 to drop into second place.
Hinkle had a two-day total of 143 in the boys’ 15-18 division, to lead runner-up Rob Bradley of Milford, N.J., in the American Junior Golf Assn. event. Stephen Shunk of Chatham, N.J., who led Hinkle by one shot after the first round, shot 77 Wednesday and dropped into a three-way tie for third place.
Joe Garner of El Toro shot 79 and was 16 strokes back at 159.
