ABT Announces Casting for ‘Don Quixote’

American Ballet Theatre has announced principal casting for its engagement of “Don Quixote,” Feb. 4-9 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa. Choreography is by ex-Bolshoi Ballet principal dancer Vladimir Vasiliev to the Ludwig Minkus score.
Never previously seen in Southern California, the Vasiliev staging replaces one by former ABT artistic director Mikhail Baryshnikov and is performed in the same sets and costumes.
Principal casting in Orange County:
* Feb. 4: Cynthia Harvey (Kitri), Wes Chapman (Basil), Christine Dunham (Mercedes), Guillaume Graffin (Espada). 8 p.m.
* Feb. 5: Cheryl Yeager, Robert Wallace, Christina Fagundes, Jeremy Collins. At 8 p.m.
* Feb. 6: Susan Jaffe, Graffin, Fagundes, Ethan Brown. 8 p.m.
* Feb. 7: Amanda McKerrow, Collins, Marianna Tcherkassky, Carld Jonassaint. 8 p.m.
* Feb. 8: Harvey, Chapman, Tcherkassky, Jonassaint. 2 p.m.
* Feb. 8: Jaffe, Graffin, Dunham, Collins. 8 p.m.
* Feb. 9: Yeager, Wallace, Tcherkassky, Robert Conn. 2 p.m.
