CALIFORNIA IN BRIEF : SACRAMENTO : Bill Would Deport Immigrant Felons

Lt. Gov. Leo T. McCarthy announced Thursday he will sponsor legislation that would require the deportation of illegal immigrants convicted of felonies in California. McCarthy, who is running for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by the retiring Alan Cranston, made his announcement at a Capitol news conference attended by Assemblyman Tom Umberg (D-Garden Grove), who will carry the bill with Sen. Reuben Ayala (D-Chino).
