Trainer Angel Penna Sr. Dead at 68

NEW YORK — Hall Of Fame trainer Angel Penna Sr. died Wednesday night after a long battle with cancer. He was 68.
Penna trained the winners of more than 250 stakes races during a 45-year career.
Among the horses he trained were Bold Reason, Czar Alexander, Dance Number, Flying Water, Private Account, Relaxing and Waya and Allez France.
Penna, a native of Argentina, was inducted into the Hall Of Fame in 1988.
He is survived by his wife, Elinor, and a son, Angel Penna Jr., who currently trains at Gulfstream Park in Florida.
