Marjorie R. Leonard; Pioneer Child Psychoanalyst

Marjorie R. Leonard, 86, pioneering child psychoanalyst who was a founding member of the Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Study Group. A native of New York, she moved west to attend UCLA. She had a private practice in Southern California in the 1940s and ‘50s and from 1955 to 1959 was associated with the Reiss-Davis Clinic for Child Guidance. Mrs. Leonard studied and wrote extensively on fostering individual identity in twins and the importance of fathers in the emotional development of daughters. On Jan. 7 in Boston of Alzheimer’s disease.
