ANAHEIM — Jim Sprague, a USC assistant coach and one of the most successful high school water polo coaches in Orange County history, has been hired to coach at Servite next season, Servite Athletic Director Tom Vitello said Wednesday.
Sprague coached at Sunny Hills 23 years, helping the Lancers win four Southern Section titles and 21 Freeway League championships before resigning in 1989 to become an assistant at USC. Sprague will also teach math at Servite.
After Sprague left, Sunny Hills extended its Freeway League winning streak to a Southern Section record of 120. The streak ended last fall when the Lancers lost to Buena Park.
