Ocean View Urged to Improve Its Behavior

Southern Section officials recommended that the Ocean View High School baseball program improve sportsmanship and behavior after a fact-finding meeting into an incident after the team’s baseball game against Santa Ana last week, Commissioner Stan Thomas said Thursday.
Without going into the details, Thomas said the team and coach should show greater awareness toward the ideals of high school sports.
The meeting, which was held Wednesday, resulted after a confrontation between an umpire and an Ocean View player after Santa Ana’s 6-5 victory May 13. According to a witness, a Seahawk player threw a baseball at an umpire.
Thomas would not comment further, saying it was a personnel matter.
