NEW CHOICES: Independence Day is when citizenship comes to mind, and for thousands of immigrants who want to become citizens, the system will soon get easier. Federal officials are switching to multiple-choice written questions for testing, instead of oral exams. . . . “It should speed up the waiting period,” one federal immigration official says. Last year, 60,000 immigrants were naturalized in the greater Los Angeles district, which includes Orange County.
