Gang Tie Suspected in Fatal Santa Ana Shooting

SANTA ANA — A man was shot to death Thursday night by someone in a passing car in an incident that police said was apparently gang-related.
The shooting occurred at 9:20 p.m. in the 600 block of North Garfield Street, Police Lt. Earl Porter said.
Police said the man, whose name and age were not available, was shot once in the chest by as he stood outside with friends.
The friends, none of whom was injured, rushed him to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where he was dead on arrival.
Porter said he did not know the final tally of gang-related shootings in the city in 1992.
