Bah, Movie Makers!

“Why Isn’t L.A. Friendly to Filmmakers?” (Saturday Letters, Dec. 19), brings a plaint from TV director Mike Mathis: “People don’t seem to want us here.” They are “unreasonable,” “uncooperative” and motorists are “honking.”
Well, let me tell you, as an irate horn-honker, I and others like me are well justified to make our feeble protest. These arrogant filmmakers have no right to blockade the road to work, to cordon off neighborhoods for their work and disrupt mine. As a longtime resident here, I am no longer enamored nor amused by these officious and self-important “artists.”
When filmmakers change their arrogant attitudes and make courteous and practical arrangements, maybe we working stiffs will be more cooperative.
