A Burbank man was in critical condition after being shot in front of a hamburger stand early New Year’s Day, according to a police report.
Arturo Lopez, 19, was standing in front of Tommy’s hamburgers in the 1300 block of San Fernando Boulevard at about 3 a.m. when he was struck in the side by gunfire from a passing car, said Lt. Art Moody of the Burbank Police Department. “Witnesses said there were two shots and then Lopez went down,” Moody said.
Lopez was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills.
No one was in custody and police are not sure if the shooting was gang-related. “In these cases the witnesses often don’t tell you too much,” Moody said. “We’re getting conflicting reports.”
