USC’s Fortunes Dry Up Like a Fresno Raisin Left in Sun Too Long

Count this as a letter of strong support for Larry Smith. Currently, it is easy for the career detractors and professional USC-bashers to yelp in outrage, because of the recent poor showings in football. Certainly, The Times will print those bleatings, giving it unwarranted credence.
Despite the loss-cycle, though, Coach Smith is not only a proven winner, but a man of immense integrity. Those who enjoy criticizing his coaching probably know very little about football . . . and those who would criticize his character simply do not know what they are saying.
