USC’s Fortunes Dry Up Like a Fresno Raisin Left in Sun Too Long

Watching USC’s defeat last Tuesday night was yet another reminder of what has gone wrong during Larry Smith’s tenure. The team went into the game whining, undisciplined, and without emotion. All this amid the annual speculation of how many underclassmen Coach Smith would be losing to the pros.
As opposed to George Raveling, who at least gets his kids to play hard every game, Larry Smith’s team forgets to get worked up for many games. All Smith ever says is that times have changed and that USC can never dominate as it once did. What has changed at Heritage Hall is the sense of pride and discipline that were the trademark of the Cardinal and Gold.
Let’s just speed the process up, hire Mike Garrett as athletic director, bring back John Robinson to save recruiting and bring back the pride that is sorely lacking.
