The Encino Chamber of Commerce on Monday announced plans to donate more than $16,000 in equipment and supplies to local schools.
The chamber will pay for the calculators, computers, software and overhead projectors with proceeds from its Sixth Annual Taste of Encino festival. More than 18,000 people attended last month’s event featuring food, wine and entertainment. The event netted about $50,000. Chamber officials said the balance of the profits would be used for various community improvement projects and special chamber projects.
Schools slated to receive the supplies and equipment include Taft, Birmingham and Zane Grey high schools; Mulholland Middle School; and Emelita, Encino and Nestle elementary schools.
