SANTA ANA : Teachers Welcome Apples (or IBMs)
The Santa Ana Unified School District is seeking donations of used but functional computer equipment to help students in the classroom, officials said.
Surplus IBM, Apple and other computers are used to teach word processing, language arts and math. Companies that would otherwise discard older computers when they purchase new models are asked to give them to the district, said John Bennett, assistant superintendent of the elementary division.
The donations are tax-deductible, and the district will provide letters verifying donations for tax purposes. The district also will pick up donated equipment, Bennett said.
