Sunny Hills, Jr.
Soccer / Forward
Foster, a defender last season and during summer league, was expected to continue in that role this season. But when Sunny Hills’ coaches decided the Lancers needed help on offense, Foster was happy to step up. Last week, she had two goals and an assist in each of two Freeway League victories. Foster, who has six goals and three assists this season, accounted for all of the Lancers’ goals in a 3-1 victory over La Habra, considered the most serious challenger to Sunny Hills’ three-season hold on the league title. The Lancers also beat Sonora, 7-1.
Other notables:
* Mara Colaizzi, Newport Harbor, scored in a 1-0 victory over Glendora to advance to the title game of the Orange County field hockey tournament.
* Erica DeVitis and Tiffany Brown, Santa Margarita, each scored in the final two minutes in a 2-1 Sea View League soccer victory over Irvine.
* Leticia Osegura, Mater Dei, scored 37 points in the Monarchs’ 85-57 South Coast League victory over San Clemente.
* Akilah Rodgers, Rancho Alamitos, scored a school-record 41 points in a 72-35 victory over Pacifica. Averaged 26 points in three victories.
