Weekend Box Office : ‘Flintstones’ Keeps Rolling Along

“The Flintstones” continued to carve a place right out of box-office history with $18.2 million over the weekend. The only higher weekend this year was the previous one, when “Flintstones” opened with $37.2 million. Its total take is now $62.4 million. Two new films debuted modestly: Director Penny Marshall’s “Renaissance Man,” in which Danny DeVito teaches Shakespeare to numb Army recruits, grossed $5.5 million; “The Cowboy Way,” starring Woody Harrelson and Kiefer Sutherland as wide-brimmed cowpokes in New York, corralled $5 million. Bruce Brown’s sequel to his classic surfer flick, “Endless Summer II,” managed to hang in the Top 10 with $657,292.
