Crouch, the Southern Section Division I player of the year for the Vikings’ championship soccer team, added another title to her collection by pitching Marina to victories over Pacifica and Foothill. She pitched a four-hit shutout for 10 innings in a 1-0 victory over Pacifica in the semifinal and a one-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 2-0 victory over Foothill in the title game. Crouch, who finished the season with a 22-2 record and a 0.22 earned-run average, gave up only one run in five playoff games. “It was a really remarkable performance,” Coach Shelly Luth said.
Other notables:
* Angie Fancuberta, Fullerton, gave up three hits in 10 innings and had two key hits in a 4-1 victory over La Puente Bishop Amat for Division II title.
* Gina Heads, Newport Harbor, finished third in the shotput in 44-8 3/4 and the discus in 146-1 at the State track and field championships.
* Kristy Kierluff, Esperanza, won her second State high jump title in three years with a leap of 5 feet 10.
* Tara Oettinger, Foothill, won the State long jump title with a mark of 19-7 1/2.
