BEVERLY HILLS : Home Bombing Suspect In Critical Condition
- Share via
A man who police believe set off an explosion that destroyed a vacant house last week remained in critical condition on Wednesday with second- and third-degree burns.
The explosion and resulting fire occurred Aug. 11 at 309 N. Foothill Road, just blocks from the headquarters of the Beverly Hills police and fire departments.
The man, in his mid-40s, allegedly doused the one-story residence with gasoline and then ignited it with a match, apparently while he was still inside the house, said Beverly Hills Police Lt. Joe Lombardi. The resulting explosion virtually blew the house off its foundation.
Lombardi said police had not determined a motive and knew of no connection between the man and the residence.
