South Bay : EVALUATION RECOMMENDED
Psychiatric evaluation is expected to begin next week for a Carson man charged with killing four members of his extended family, authorities said Thursday.
Rambling and frequent interruptions from Leon Haney III during a court appearance Wednesday prompted Judge Dean Farrar to order the evaluation to determine whether the 21-year-old is mentally competent to stand trial.
Haney has been charged with murdering his grandmother Hazel Petty, 69; his second cousin De’Ajanae Morgan, 2; her mother, Shanta Evans, 19, and her 24-week-old fetus.
