Husband Charged in Wife’s Death

GLENDALE —  Prosecutors filed a first-degree murder charge against a man accused of stabbing his wife to death in a domestic dispute Saturday.

Vangel Tsavukyan, 60, also faces a second felony charge of using a knife in a violent crime. Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty, but Tsavukyan faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Brian Schirn.

Tsavukyan’s wife, Armnue Tsavukyan, was found stabbed to death Saturday morning in the bedroom of the couple’s home in the 300 block of Salem Street, authorities said. Later that morning, Tsavukyan turned himself in at the Glendale Police Department, saying he had hit his wife and believed she could be dead.

Tsavukyan, who is in custody in lieu of $1-million bail, will be arraigned Dec. 17, court officials said.
