A POW/MIA flag will fly year-round at City Hall after council members voted in favor of the request from veterans groups.
“This would be the right thing to do,” said Councilman Greg Smith at Tuesday’s meeting. “They gave their all.”
Bob Kakuk, a member of the Vietnam Veterans of Orange County, presented a POW/MIA flag to Mayor Christina L. Shea.
“This flag must fly year-round, because the prisoners of war and missing in action of all wars must be remembered every day of the year,” Kakuk said. “We must never forget these Americans and never allow it to happen again.”
Other cities in Orange County that fly the flag year-round are: Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, La Habra, Lake Forest, Orange and Placentia.
