Hart Turns It Around on Saugus
During her four-year career at Hart High, Anna Nordhagen had never defeated rival Saugus in a Foothill League softball game.
That changed Thursday night.
Nordhagen had two hits and drove in the Indians’ first four runs in a 7-2 victory over the perennial Foothill League champions at the William S. Hart Softball Complex in Valencia.
Nordhagen had a two-run single in the first, a run-scoring single to break a 2-2 tie in the third and a fielder’s choice that scored a run in a three-run fifth inning.
Amanda Fortune (8-1) struck out four, walked four and pitched a two-hitter for Hart (11-2, 2-0 in league play), ranked No. 5 in the region by The Times.
Stephanie Blaire singled home a run in the second and Amanda Melton doubled home a run in the sixth for Saugus (8-5, 0-2), which entered the season with a 33-game league winning streak.
