California Highway Patrol officers in cars and two law enforcement helicopters chased a speeding motorcyclist over the San Diego and Santa Ana freeways and then through residential streets of Lake Forest and Irvine early Friday morning before arresting a Marine, authorities said.
Marco Antonio Romero, based at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, was booked on suspicion of evading arrest and reckless driving, CHP Officer Scott Smith said.
The chased started about 12:40 a.m. when the motorcyclist, who was traveling faster than 90 mph, failed to stop for the CHP, according to Smith.
The chased ended 45 minutes later when Romero lost his balance, Smith said.
