3 Sites Proposed for Added Fire Stations

Three sites were proposed as possible locations for additional fire stations in the northeast Valley during a City Council meeting Friday.
The proposed sites, identified by the Los Angeles Fire Department, would be added to the area currently covered by Fire Station 81, which was built in 1951, said Brian Humphrey, spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Fire officials have said Station 81 has one of the city’s heaviest workloads, which can cause delays in response times.
On Friday, City Councilman Richard Alarcon proposed that the city’s Real Estate Division of the General Service Department and other internal council committees prepare a feasibility report on the proposed sites and report to the Public Safety Committee in 30 days.
The locations, all in Panorama City, are 9731 Vesper Ave., 9353 Van Nuys Blvd. and 14210 Van Nuys Blvd.
