Just One of the Boys for Simi Valley High
- Share via
While reviewing The Times’ All-Valley and Ventura County basketball teams, I noticed the absence of one young man’s name.
Rather than work with his teammates at Buena High to build themselves into winners, Ian Boys opted to transfer to Simi Valley. For the opportunity to play for a second-place team, he betrayed his former school and teammates.
Gone are his all-league credentials, his starting position (he was a reserve at Simi Valley), and a possible college scholarship.
Boys might renew his career as a walk-on at some college or by attending a junior college. But the first thing he should do is tell the advisors who sold him on Simi Valley that they are fired. He should then seek a refund from the mouthpiece who successfully argued his right to transfer, stating that it was in the youth’s best interest.
