* Los Angeles-based Pacific Enterprises named President Richard D. Farman to the additional post of chief executive. The energy-services company said Farman replaces Willis B. Wood Jr., who will remain chairman. Wood plans to retire as an officer of the company and as a board member following the company’s planned merger with Enova Corp. later this year. As previously reported, Farman would become chairman and chief executive of Sempra Energy, the combined company.
* Irvine-based Hines Horticulture Inc., a provider of plants to mass retailers such as Home Depot Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc., plans an estimated $92-million initial public offering. With $201 million in sales in 1997, Hines is North America’s largest peat moss provider and one of its largest plant growers.
