A couple living in an East Imperial Highway motel were shot in their room Monday during a suspected robbery, police said.
The 45-year-old man and 55-year-old woman were shot at 1:11 a.m. in the Homestead Village Motel, where they had lived for three weeks, said Brea Police Sgt. Tom Flenniken. Police identified them as Sally Kay Lewis and Richard Morgan Pickerel, both of Brea.
The man suffered a single gunshot wound to his stomach and was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange. Police reported him in good condition Monday morning.
A bullet caused superficial wounds to one of the woman’s arms. She was treated at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Anaheim Hills and released.
Flenniken said officers found suspected drug paraphernalia and what they suspect to be a small quantity of methamphetamine in the motel room.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Brea Police Department at (714) 990-7624.
