City Council members are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of vandals who damaged the public library last week, tossing a Molotov cocktail near the front door and smashing several light fixtures in the parking lot. Windows were broken and tires were slashed on a city vehicle, and one of the light poles was jammed into the engine of a private vehicle.
City Manager Dan Joseph said damage to the light fixtures and the outdoor electrical system appears to be at least $20,000--about 10 times higher than officials initially estimated. Combined with the extensive damage to the vehicles, the total cost of the vandalism is pushing $30,000, he added. Anyone with information is asked to call (949) 425-1800.
