LOS ANGELES — FBI agents specializing in international organized crime spent the last week swapping information with Russian counterparts on an official visit to Los Angeles.
The Russians included senior officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Federal Security Service and the Russian Tax Authority.
Timothy P. McNally, head of the FBI’s Los Angeles field office, said the meetings included candid exchanges of information about Russian organized crime activities and some of the people involved.
Also participating in the exchanges were representatives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles, Glendale and Long Beach police departments.
“The Cold War is a thing of the past,” McNally said. “Our former adversary is now our partner against international crime syndicates.”
