Villa Park Doubles Up on Marina

Shannon Buckner scored five goals and Danee French had four goals and three assists to help Villa Park, ranked second in Orange County, defeat sixth-ranked Marina, 12-6, in a nonleague girls’ water polo game Friday at Villa Park.
Marissa Nelson and Cara Chlebicki each scored twice for Marina (19-8), which trailed, 6-2, at halftime.
Villa Park is 23-1.
In other nonleague games:
No. 3 Newport Harbor 10, Costa Mesa 3--Jocelyn Manderino had four goals, three assists and four steals and Jenna Barto also scored four goals for host Newport Harbor (19-5). The Sailors played without starting goalie Erin Kennedy, who broke her finger Wednesday against Irvine.
In the Orange League third-place playoff:
Savanna 9, Valencia 7--Amber Schaefer scored three goals and Christal Marlo made 20 saves to help Savanna (12-12) earn an automatic playoff berth.
In Academy League boys’ soccer:
Capistrano Valley Christian 6, Riverside Bethel Christian 0--Matt Lindsay, Dave Davenport, and Brian Moravito each scored twice for the host Eagles (10-8-1, 7-2-1).
Fairmont 2, Southern California Christian 1--Brian Kim scored in the 28th minute on a cross from Stephen Park, and Jae Jung scored on a penalty kick in the 36th minute for host Fairmont (4-8-2, 4-5-1).
Miguel Magana scored in the 10th minute for SCC (0-12, 0-10).
In the Century League:
Foothill 1, Orange 1--Simone Rota-Sperti scored the tying goal with three minutes remaining to give Foothill (14-6-4, 7-1-2) the league title. Roger Ruiz scored for second-place Orange (10-6-2, 6-2-2).
Santa Ana Valley 3, El Modena 1--Felix Radilla, Aaron Barragan and Josh Zamora scored goals and Jonathan Marin had three assists for Santa Ana Valley (8-9-3, 6-2-2), which finished tied for second with Orange.
Villa Park 3, Canyon 3--Sophomore Jake Huber scored the tying goal on a header from junior Andy Miller in the 50th minute for visiting Villa Park (8-13-3).
In the Empire League:
Loara 4, Century 1--Junior Tony Cuellar scored two goals, giving him 21 this season, for Loara (11-9-2, 6-4).
In the Golden West League:
No. 2 Santa Ana 6, Ocean View 3--Santa Ana (15-4-4, 8-1-1) clinched the league title with the victory. Halfback Luis Diaz had two assists for the Saints.
In the Pacific Coast League:
Laguna Beach 2, Estancia 1 (OT)--Tommy Neptune scored with three minutes remaining in overtime for Laguna Beach (11-9-2, 5-4-1), the two-time defending Southern Section Division IV champion. Cesar Terroneos scored for Estancia (10-6-5, 5-4-1).
In the Sea View League:
No. 1 Woodbridge 3, Newport Harbor 0--Mark Oehlman scored two goals and Ashkahn Moayedi had a goal and an assist for host Woodbridge (20-1-2, 8-0-2).
El Toro 2, Irvine 0--Julian Gaitan had a goal and an assist for host El Toro (8-9-5, 4-3-3).
Santa Margarita 4, Corona Del Mar 0--Sophomore goaltender Erick Foss recorded his tenth shutout for host Santa Margarita (14-7-4, 6-3-1).
In the South Coast League:
Dana Hills 2, Mission Viejo 0--Steve Jennings and Brian Liebman each scored a goal, leading Dana Hills (11-7-8, 4-1-5) to a league co-championship with Trabuco Hills. Dana Hills finished 1-8-1 in league last season.
Mater Dei 2, No. 6 Trabuco Hills 0--Junior goalie Eric Butler made 11 saves for visiting Mater Dei (4-3-3 in league). Trabuco Hills is 14-7-5, 5-2-3.
Capistrano Valley 0, San Clemente 0--Matt Guzzetta only had to make one save for host Capistrano Valley (12-6-7, 3-3-4), which outshot San Clemente, 14-2.
In Golden West League girls’ soccer:
Westminster 1, Saddleback 0--Senior Nicole McElrea scored her first goal of the season for Westminster (6-10-5, 4-4-3), which clinched a playoff berth.
