In another conference game:

Irvine Valley 54, Fullerton 50--Irvine Valley (21-8, 8-4) went ahead, 50-47, on a three-point basket by Craig Rice with 2:21 left in the game. Ali Goodman made a short jumper to increase the lead to 52-48 with 1:36 left. Fullerton’s Ronald Strange scored 14 points and had 20 rebounds for the Hornets.

In Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball:

Irvine Valley 84, Fullerton 76--Phouangmaly Pravongviengkham scored 17 points to lead Irvine Valley (24-4, 12-0) to its 16th consecutive victory and the conference title.

Teresa Manning scored 30 points and Chris Payne scored 21 and had 15 rebounds for visiting Fullerton (16-12, 7-5).

Saddleback 54, Santa Ana 51--Chris Carich hit a three-point shot at the buzzer to lead visiting Saddleback (8-20, 2-9). The Gauchos trailed, 27-15, at the half, but shot 62% from the field in the second half. Carich finished with 10 points.

In Mitsubishi Classic baseball:

Cypress 20, Glendale 15--Catcher Gerald Laird went three for five with two triples and Adam Spiker had four hits for Cypress.

Golden West 11, Mt. San Jacinto 10--Reuben Gulledge had four runs batted in, including a three-run home run, for host Golden West (5-1).

Saddleback 16, Palomar 5--Mike Larue hit a grand slam in the fifth for Saddleback (6-0).

At the Sacramento Invitational:

Santa Ana wins twice--Santa Ana’s Carson Crucil had a home run and three RBIs and Richard Lane hit his fourth home run in a 12-1 victory over Fresno. In the second game, Eddie Mejia drove in the winning run in the 12th inning as the Dons beat Fresno, 10-9.
